Transitional Home Remodel – Portland
This SW Portland home got a complete overhaul, from removing walls around the kitchen to expanding the entryway and remodeling the main floor bathroom. Now a bright and airy focal point of the house, this kitchen really makes a statement with skylights and large slab countertops. The different ceiling levels remained to provide a beautiful play of light on the different surfaces, giving an almost gallery-like feel.
The real challenge of this project was outside, in matching the patio’s new brickwork to the weathered 60-year old brick on the exterior of the house. The treated brick veneer by Slimbrick gives a rough and tumbled look that keeps the character of the house intact. Using veneer allowed for a higher level of seismic reinforcement.
